iToyHauler, Issue #007 -- Winterize Now! October 09, 2009 |
| Hi Everybody, Continuing with last months topic, Protecting Your RV Investment Over the Winter" Protect the water system! Well, we didn't have to wait long for the weather to turn in Central Oregon. On October 5th we had a very rare early season snow fall of 5+ inches. It was heavy wet stuff and since many trees still had their leaves, branches were breaking and trees falling all over town. And now our night temps are dropping into the teens. Time to Winterize! I installed a winterizing kit a couple years ago and now it only takes about 20 minutes to prep the trailer for winter. Over the years I've replaced two frozen water pumps because I sat on my butt rather than get to job done in a timely manner. It will cost you $100 and up if you sit on yours rather than getting this project taken care of. Ouch! You RV dealer can do the job for you, read $$$ Or you can do it yourself. 87% of RVers do it themselves. Most RV parts houses carry the kits or you can click the link below and order one from Camping World. There's is a lot more to winterizing your RV and if your are going to do it yourself it would be wise to get some expert education. I'm a big fan of Mark Polk's RV information and education series. He has a great little eBook "Winterizing and Storing your RV." Click Here to get it! It is near the bottom of the page. Regards,
